Reflections after reading an ayah in the Quran..
How beautiful is our Deen,SubhanAllah ! It covers such basic manners and emphasizes on having good manners and Allah even sent Prophet Muhammad pbuh as a role model..
People might say that such basic manners are "understood"..you see even then the majority don't implement it..
The Quran and hadeeth talks about the way we should deal with each other..
Don't backbite or spy..fear Allah.
These basic manners cannot be implemented or practised unless we fear Allah, someone Supreme,All-Powerful,All-Knowing,Who knows the secrets of our hearts.
Because for example, when you spy, only you might be aware you are doing it.
So,if you fear the One,Who you know is aware of what you're doing, you might stop yourself.
This is accountability to the Supreme,All-Knowing Allah..you know He is Watching every action of yours, every word you say, every thought you have..
Same is the case when we indulge in backbiting..
This eliminates any chances of bad behaviour, immorality, crimes in society and in the world.
It is only when we think that 'Oh,I'm doing this and no one is watching me,so I'll escape.."
Oh,well ! You might escape the people..and let us say even the law..
Mind you,you can't escape Allah..He is watching you all the time..
Allah is the Best of Judges..NOTHING,NOTHING and No one Escapes Him.
He is Just.
As you sow,so shall you reap !
If you do good, you will be rewarded. If you do wrong, you'll be punished.
If you REPENT sincerely,Allah is the "One who Forgives and accepts repentance,Most Merciful."
(The human judges, their decisions might be swayed by threats, bribes, emotions.)
"....And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful."
(Quran,ch.49,v.12)
I'm reminded of the hadeeth which mentions how Allah has made the "account system" in terms of deeds:
On the authority of ibn Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with both of them): On the authority of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s blessing and peace be upon him) from among the sayings that he related from His Lord (glorified and exalted be He) is that He said, “Verily, Allah recorded the good deeds and the evil deeds. Then He clarified how [that recording should occur:
whoever decided to do a good deed but he did not do it, Allah records it with Him as a complete good deed. And if he decided to do it and actually did it, Allah records it with Him as ten good deeds up to seven hundred up to many times over. If he decided to do an evil deed but he did not do it, Allah records it with Him as one complete good deed. If he decided to do it and he actually did it, Allah records it as one evil deed.”
